Super Mocha Berry Smoothie
For those who follow my blog, you know that super foods are my thing. I love to use them in almost all my smoothies, and raw food treats. They add so much to the flavor, as well as the health benefits the body craves. This recipe uses quite a few super foods. Although it’s not necessary to use each one, I do recommend you use them all when you have the chance.
One of the many super foods included in this recipe is raw Maca root powder. Maca is an incredible super food that grows at very high altitudes, in the high Andean plateaus of Peru. It is considered a tuber root and is related to the potato.
Maca is a healing food. It works to repair the body as needed so that the body can operate at an optimal level of health, while maintaining energy levels at all times. Maca is also great for libido in both men and women, and helps to regulate the hormones – Nature’s natural and best “mojo helper” available! It has also been linked to helping with fertility.
Maca is great for relieving depression, and stabilizing mood. It’s a “feel good” food. The flavor is quite distinct, and resembles that of caramel-like yams. It is a nutrient-dense food, making it a super food, and is great in smoothies, raw desserts, and other great food combinations.
For the mocha-coffee flavoring in this smoothie, I prepared some fresh and delicious, caffeine-free, non acidic, Teeccino Mocha. It’s organic, and is prebiotic too, made with inulin from chicory root. Teeccino is not coffee at all. It is a special blend of organic barley, chicory, dates, almonds, figs, carob, and cacao – and it’s simply wonderful! Now for the recipe, enjoy!
