Well, it’s been a while since I posted a recipe. So, I thought I start by adding another super smoothie to the mix. I absolutely love smoothies, and especially smoothies made with super foods!
This smoothie does have a lot of different super foods included. If you don’t have them all, don’t worry about it – just make it with what you can. However, if you ever get the chance, do try it with all the super foods included here.
One of the super foods included in this recipes besides cacao, and berries, is raw maca root powder. Maca is an incredible super food that grows at very high altitudes, in the high Andean plateaus of Peru. It is considered a tuber root and is related to the potato.
Maca is a healing food. It works to repair the body as needed so that the body can operate at an optimal level of health, while maintaining energy levels at all times. Maca is also great for libido in both men and women, and helps to regulate the hormones – Nature’s natural and best “mojo helper” available! It has also been linked to helping with fertility.
Maca is great for relieving depression, and stabilizing mood. It’s a “feel good” food. The flavor is quite distinct, and resembles that of carmel-like yams. Maca is a nutrient-dense food, making it a super food, and is great in smoothies, raw desserts, yogurt, and more.
Some of my favorite brands of raw maca powder are Navitas Naturals, Raw Food World, and Elements for Life.
For the mocha-coffee flavoring in this smoothie, I prepared some fresh and delicious, caffeine free, non acidic, Teeccino Mocha. It’s organic, and is prebiotic too, made with inulin from chicory root. Teeccino is not coffee at all. It is a special blend of organic barley, chicory, dates, almonds, figs, carob, and cacao – and it’s simply wonderful!
Well, now for the recipe. Enjoy! =)

Regarding super foods, today I read a great article on Lovingraw.com by Gabrielle Brick, entitled “What Is A Superfood?” Check it out.

Taking maca powder over a year ago. This product really AMAZED me. I heard a lot of good benefits that Maca can do especially in our skin. My skin was clear and glowing.
Another great thing that I didn’t expect that my energy boost up. I just felt so clear-headed and stable and motivated. I get a lot done when I’m taking maca. It has a very strong taste like vanilla malt but it really taste better when I mix it into my chocolate smoothie every morning.
